About Studying Education Courses
Teachers are usually required to study full time for three to four years for a university degree in education, such as a Bachelor of Education.
It is also often possible for someone to study for a degree in another area, then switch to a postgraduate education qualification. This allows the teacher to specialize as a subject matter expert. Having an area of specialist knowledge is particularly important for high school teachers who focus on a particular discipline of study.
Postgraduate Qualifications may include a Postgraduate Diploma of Education, Masters of Education or Doctorate of Education.
