TOEFL Courses for Academic Entry

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test is accepted for academic entry in most English speaking countries by a large number of education providers. TOEFL courses prepare students with the essential strategies and language skills to ensure success in the test.

The TOEFL test focusses on the English required for strong academic achievement at university. Similar to the PTE test, the test can be done online, which is known as the TOEFL iBT (internet Based Test). This version of the test can be done at test centers located around the world.

In some countries where internet access is problematic, the TOEFL test can be conducted with paper and pencil.

TOEFL courses are not typical in Australia, as most ELICOS providers focus on IELTS and PTE. However, courses that prepare students for TOEFL usually include the following:

  • Overview of the test
  • Specific skills required for each section of the TOEFL test
  • Test strategies
  • Practice tests under test conditions

Non-accredited courses

Some students may prefer to prepare for TOEFL with intensive courses that are offered in the evenings and partly online. In many cases, students will not be able to gain student visa rights if they study intensive TOEFL courses. Students should always check the course and visa details with their education provider.
